Consultancy and Certification

Consultancy and Certification are professional services

Consultants guide the clients in obtaining certification
Certification bodies audit the client and certify the client

ETHICS demands that these two professional services must be rendered by two independent bodies
free from bias and commercial interests

if a consultant has a tie up with the certification body

then the credibility of the certificate obtained is in doubt

the quality of the consultancy rendered can be gauged by the certification body
provided that there are no vested interests

The Quality Council of India is looking into these malpractices particularly with regard to ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 certification

These malpractices may be reported to QCI

Code of Ethics

Preamble
Consultancy Services make significant contribution to development of the nation. For the Nation and the Society to derive maximum benefits from the consultancy services, it is essential that, in addition to being of high professional standard, these services are of the highest universally accepted moral and ethical standards.

With a view to achieve this objective Consultancy Development Centre (CDC) has framed a "Code of Ethics" which is mandatory for all members of the Centre to follow.

This Code presupposes that every member of CDC is basically a law abiding, honest, straight forward, non malicious, non vindictive, fair and just, impartial, selfless and trust worthy citizen of the society. In addition, the member must follow directives of the Code in his Professional Practice.
The Codes are:
Responsibility to the Society
Relation with other Consultants
Responsibility to Profession
Relation with Employees
Competence
Relations with Clients
Integrity
Job Procurement
